Interactive book group using history to promote conversations that impact the way we live today.
The Perspective is a book group that seeks to connect the events of history to today’s living. This is a reading group for persons interested in understanding how the society we live in has been shaped, and how those lessons can guide us in our efforts to create the future. Participants will be encouraged to read the books individually, but pre-reading will not be required. The books will be read collectively, followed by discussion of the day’s reading. The initial read will be local author and civil rights activist Rodney Hurst’s book It was never about a hot dog and a Coke!: A personal account of the 1960 sit-in demonstrations in Jacksonville, Florida and Ax Handle Saturday.
