Get in the Oktoberfest spirit with the First Coast Wind Symphony's German Band. Founded in 1990 the First Coast Wind Symphony performs numerous free concerts throughout Northeast Florida. Their membership consists of approximately 80 woodwind, brass and percussion instrumentalists who perform in a variety of programs including classical to popular band music, marches, chamber music and new works.
Jacksonville Public Library's Main Library proudly contributes to our community's cultural life by offering a wide variety of classical music programming. All of the performers freely donate their time and talents for the opportunity to perform in the series, and we have been fortunate to present programs in partnership with area schools, colleges and universities, with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, and with Friday Musicale, Jacksonville's oldest community music society.
Intermezzo concerts have included world premieres of more than a dozen newly-composed works in a variety of vocal, choral, and instrumental styles. Printed program guides accompany each performance, providing information about the compositions and the performers, as well as selective listings of related reading and listening materials available from the Library's superlative collection of music resources.
Intermezzo concerts are open to the general public and reservations are not required. Unless otherwise noted, these free concerts are presented in the Main Library's Hicks Auditorium, located on the Conference Level of the Library. All concert attendees should enter through the Laura St entrance.
