You may be surprised to find out that women invented some of your favorite games! Let's play!
Some of the most famous and most loved games you probably play all the time were invented by women. Since February is Women's History Month, we thought it would be fun for us all to find out more about these games and play them together. Here are some hints to the games we'll be playing:
A game invented by a woman to teach people about fairness called "The Landlord's Game."
A game invented in a hospital ward by a retired school teacher
A game whose name is the Swahili word for "build."
A game invented in Texas by a woman named Hazel "Skip" Bowman.
Can you guess which ones these are? Let's find out together!
At the end you'll be able to create your own board game to take home and play with your friends!
For children ages 5 – 12.
Accommodations for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Please ask for the Special Needs Library at 630-2665 or email JPLTBSpecialNeeds@coj.net. This program is free and open to the public.
