Listen to a folktale about an Irishman, a leprechaun, and a “magic” potato seed and conduct scientific experiments to determine if the idea of a magic potato is truth or Blarney!
The Irish have a rich history of storytelling, including tales of magic. In this program we’ll read a folktale about a man who is offered a magic potato seed by a tricky leprechaun. We’ll then work together to conduct a series of science experiments to examine whether potatoes are truly magical or just really cool because of the science involved. You’ll have the opportunity to share your own thoughts: is it the magic of the Irish or science?
For children ages 5 – 12
Accommodations for persons with disabilities are available upon request. Please ask for the Special Needs Library at 630-2665 or email JPLTBSpecialNeeds@coj.net. This program is free and open to the public.
