If your child is into science, technology, engineering and math (or would they like to be), this is the time for them to shine. Read or talk through a STEM book with us and then we’ll do a STEM-based activity together.
Attention, Junior Scientists! This STEM-based program for K-2 features a book and science activities that encourage deep thinking, inquiry, and fun. This week’s exploration is called Bouncy Science based on the theme Amazing Sports! We will use ingredients found in the kitchen to create an awesome ball that bounces. We will also learn about what it will take to bring down the queen of kickball. This exploration is based on the book Ella McKeen Kickball Queen by Beth Mills.
Each week we will use a variety of materials that you may have at home to explore a scientific concept. This week’s needed materials are:
· Borax (found in laundry section)
· Warm water
· Corn starch
· Glue
· 2 small mixing cups
· Something to use for stirring (popsicle sticks or plastic spoons)
· Food coloring (optional)
After our program, find the book(s) to read again on Hoopla. Need assistance? Contact us at 904-255-BOOK.
