If your child is into science, technology, engineering and math (or would they like to be), this is the time for them to shine. Read or talk through a STEM book with us and then we’ll do a STEM-based activity together.
Attention, Junior Scientists! This STEM-based program for grades 3 - 5 features a book and science activities that encourage deep thinking, inquiry, and fun. This week’s exploration is about Fantastic Beasts! We will tinker with various materials to create a mysterious substance associated with unicorns! This is based on the book called You Don’t Want a Unicorn by Ame Dyckman.
Each week we will use a variety of materials that you may have at home to explore a scientific concept. This week’s needed materials are:
- Elmer’s Glue (liquid)
- Liquid Laundry Detergent (Tide Clean and Clear preferred)
- At least one bowl (can be paper), several are preferred
- Ziploc bag to store slime
- OPTIONAL: Washable paint such as Crayola kid’s paint
- OPTIONAL: Glitter or any small waterproof decorative items
- OPTIONAL for easier cleanup: 1 baking tray
After our program, find the book(s) for today’s program to read again in our catalog HERE to pick up at a branch/download. Need assistance? Contact us at 904-255-BOOK
